I recently changed my ISP to ATT/Yahoo. I have talked to the ATT tek support
and gotten the correct ISP information. However, I can neither send nor receive e-mail, consistently getting the same error reports, to wit: Socket Error #11004, Error #0x800CCC00. ATT tells me this is a Microsoft issue. . .. . .can anyone help me with this? Thanks! |

The full text of the error message would be helpful. That includes the
server name, server type, port number, socket error code, SSL, etc. For best results, copy/paste the error message rather than retyping it. You should be able to highlight the message text in the error window (hold down the left mouse button while dragging the mouse over the text). Then press Ctrl-C (hold down the Ctrl key while pressing the C key) to copy the highlighted text to the Windows clipboard. You can then paste that text into the problem description using the Ctrl-V key combination. How to troubleshoot error messages that you receive when try to send and receive e-mail in Outlook and in Outlook Express http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813514 If you anti-virus is set to scan e-mail or you re running anti-spam software, either of those could be causing the problem. With some anti-virus (and anti-spam) programs, simply disabling the e-mail scanning function doesn't really disable it. It simply tells the program not to flag any messages. It still processes all the messages and may still cause send/receive problems. What you may need to do is uninstall the anti-virus program, then reinstall it using a custom install option and unselect the e-mail scanning component for installation. You mention switching ISPs. Where you previously using OE with the old ISP? Can you still access your mail at the old ISP? Did you set up a new identity for AT&T, or add and account in the old identity or modify the account for the old ISP? You can double check the AT&T settings here.
