Don't you have any mention of LinkScanner on this AVG page?

I don't get any pop-up status message. I don't have the e-mail scanner
listed at all; the linkscanner is there, and listed as active.

So...to recap... I have the e-mail scanner listed but ticked inactive
and
the linkscanner listed and at the moment ticked as inactive...

or
otherwise of linkscanner?

I have no clue about its utility, or problems. I use Avast AV on my
computer. That is a relative's computer, and I haven't heard her complain
about any problems.

BTW, when I installed Avast, I did it the same way as I installed AVG8:
Run
"Custom" install, and deslect email scanning. I do not run client side AV
email scanners. Too many problems. I do not use Symantec products (such
as
Norton AV). Too many problems. I do not use McAfee products. Too many
problems.

fair enough

about any problems.

As you didn't realise I expect she doesn't realise that she has
LinkScanner active..no problems but I wonder if you/she considers it
useful?

I am generally very pleased with AVG - no problems.
