Default outlook does NOT allow me to use the "delete" key on the keyboard

When I am typing an email and I want to use the "delete" key on the keyboard,
nothing happens. The only way I can delete words is by using the
"backspace" key on the keyboard.

Is there a way to enable the "delete key" on the keyboard to function while
typing/editing emails in Outlook Express 6.0?

Does the Delete key work in other applications?

Please don't refer to Outlook Express as "Outlook" (a different program).

The Delete key deletes the character after the cursor, the Backspace key
deletes the character in front of the cursor.

I know what the delete key does...but i cant seem to get its function to
work in outlook express.

When I am creating an email, and I want tp place the cursor before a word or
letters that I wish to delete, it seems that when i do that, the "delete key"
does not work. What I end up having to do is put the cursor AFTER the words
or letters that i wish to delete and then use the "Backspace" key. I would
prefer to use the "delete key" if possible.

Does it work OK in a word processing program? (i.e. Word, Notepad, etc.). If
it does, then see if the problem persists in a new named identity. If it
doesn't, the problem is not within OE.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main
Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it.
If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old
identity and delete it.
