Do the following for the Outbox, and if the problem persists, repeat for
Sent Items after you move any messages you wish to save to a local folder you create. Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer or, copy and paste it into Start | Run. In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View. With OE closed, find the DBX file for the folder in question {Outbox.dbx} and delete it. A new one will be created automatically when you open OE. General precautions for Outlook Express: Do not archive mail in default OE folders. They will eventually become corrupt. Create your own user defined folders for storing mail and move your mail to them. Empty Deleted Items folder regularly. Keep user created folders under 100MB, and Default folders as empty as is feasible. After you are done, follow up by compacting your folders manually while working *offline* and do it often. Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status Bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed. Turn off e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that eats up CPUs and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A/V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more, see: http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 In Tools | Options | Maintenance: Uncheck Compact messages in background and leave it unchecked. {N/A if running XP/SP2}. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Supu" wrote in message ... 1a. Move any messages that you want to keep out of Sent Items and Deleted
Items folders and into other local OE folders you've created for archiving (saving) such messages. 1b. Move 99% of your messages in your Inbox folder to other local OE folders, too. = In WindowsXP & Win2K, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are marked as hidden by default. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders via Start Control Panel Folder Options View (cf. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tuto...torial62.html). 2. Write down the location of your identity's store (http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain). 3. Close OE. 4. In Windows Explorer, navigate to your store folder, find & delete the files Outbox.dbx, Sent Items.dbx, and Deleted Items.dbx. To avoid such problems in the futu - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Disable Background Compacting [not available in SP2] and frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm - WinXP SP2 only: Do not shut down your machine while Windows is automatically compacting your message store. - Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It can cause corruption (i.e., loss of messages), it provides no additional protection, and even Symantec says it's not necessary: QP Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have the most recent virus definitions. /QP http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...02111812533106 -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Supu wrote: When I send an Attachments through Outlook Express 6, there's a warning message every time soon after sent the mail. no any description, only the Warning. somehow the mail sent without any issue and receiver confirmed they received.. but it's not moving to Sent Items folder from Outbox folder. Did you create a new Sent Items, or just an Outbox?
The first thing to do is to close all programs and then reboot. Open OE and compact all folders before you do anything else. Does it still get stuck? -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "Supu" wrote in message news ![]() Thank you very much. It's done. Tell me how to resolve this issue. Thanks Sent Items is probably corrupt. Move any messages you want to keep out of Sent Items. Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance and see where OE is storing its files. Close OE. Go there with Windows Explorer and move Sent Items.dbx to an empty Windows folder. With Win2K and WinXP it will be a hidden file. You can use One or these tools to extract the messages from the old DBX file: DBXtract ($5): http://www.oehelp.com/DBXtract/ DBXpress: ($25 but worth it) http://www.oehelp.com/DBXpress/Default.aspx The messages can be dragged from a Windows folder back into an OE folder in OE's Folder List. In the future do not use the default folders to store messages. Move them to user created folders. -- Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM Do not reply with email |
