Default Red X's in New Message

When I start a New Message in OE6 and try to insert "picutre" in the
message window,
I get a little box with a red x.

Create MailInsertPictureBrowse select file. I've done this
probably 1,000 times over the years with no problems, now all of a
sudden I'm getting the red x's in my new message. What changed and
how do I fix it?

Thank you.

And if you send yourself a message with an embedded pic, do you see the redX placeholder or the pic when you open it?

Do you have a second identity, as in File | Identities, | Switch Identities?
If so, does it happen in the other identity as well?

If not, or you do not have another identity, create a new one and test it to
see if the problem persists.
