Default Old files in OE

I noticed that when I make a backup of my OE files, there are dbx files for
folders that I deleted long ago. How do I get rid of them?

But what's it doing there in the first place?

Deleting a folder in the Folder Tree, does not usually delete it from the
message store.

Follow up by compacting your folders.

Click on Outlook Express at the top of the folder tree so no folders are
open. Then: FileWork Offline (or double click Working Online in the Status
Bar).
FileFolderCompact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting
is completed.

Okay, I did as you suggested, deleting the dbx files that I don't need. Then
I compacted the folders. I noticed that I neglected to delete one of the old
dbx files and it's still there after compacting. It's not really a problem,
I'm just trying to understand why OE doesn't get rid of them automatically.

I don't know why either. Just the way the program was designed I suppose.

"Because", as we answer our kids when we don't know.

Normally OE does grt rid of the .dbx file when you delete a folder but
somtimes it loses track of things. One a folder is no longer listed in
folders.dbx for any reason, OE will doesn't see it.
