I am unable to successfully launch Outlook Express 6 from with Internet
Explorer 6 when any of New Message, Send A Link, or Send Page are selected from the Mail button. Read Mail and Read News will successfully launch OE6 though. OE6 is the default mail program. When New Message, Send A Link, or Send Page were selected, it would launch SeaMonkey instead. After uninstalling SeaMonkey, if any of these three entries are selected, nothing happens. I've tried everything I could think of. I would like to restore the full functionality so that anything selected under the Mail button will correctly launch Outlook Express. Thank you for any assistance. |

It is set as the default in both OE itself and in Internet Options.
I also looked at KB article 306098 and found the registry entries were as specified in the article. It's still not working. I have Windows XP Home Service Pack 2. "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... I'm not sure then. Let's see what someone else has to offer.

Hi Edward,
You can try setting OE as the default mail client in Set Program Access and Defaults from the Win XP Start menu or Control Panel. -- Tim K. aka Kuay Tim MS-MVP - Outlook Express Lynnwood, WA * "Edward" edward@invalid wrote in message ... Hi Tim,
Thank you Tim and to Bruce for the fast replies. I'm happy to report that it is now working perfectly. The problem was registry-related. I decided to uninstall all other mail applications and browsers that were installed in addition to SeaMonkey (Firefox, Thunderbird, Pegasus Mail) and restarted, I had the same results afterwards. Then after launching regedit, I noticed the registry keys for all of these items were still present. Upon deleting the Firefox, Thunderbird, Pegasus Mail and SeaMonkey registry items, all of the selections on the Mail button in Internet Explorer now work and all correctly launch Outlook Express for the entry selected.
