Troubleshooting error messages that you receive when you are using OL and OE
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/813514 Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It provides no additional protection and even Symantec says it's not necessary: QP Disabling Email Scanning does not leave you unprotected against viruses that are distributed as email attachments. Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect scans incoming files as they are saved to your hard drive, including email and email attachments. Email Scanning is just another layer on top of this. To make sure that Auto-Protect is providing the maximum protection, keep Auto-Protect enabled and run LiveUpdate regularly to ensure that you have the most recent virus definitions. /QP http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...02111812533106 -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Easy T wrote: Hi, I'm having a ptoblem with sending e-mails using Outlook Express 6.0 . Was this working? The important part of the message is "connection
refused". The 'smtp.ntlworld.com' mail server doesn't want to talk to you. from IP address 86.27.210.20. Did you recently change your Internet connection? You may need to call your ISP. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Easy T" wrote in message ... Hi, I'm having a ptoblem with sending e-mails using Outlook Express 6.0 . I appreciate the help guys. -- Cheers Easy T "Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM" wrote: "Easy T" wrote in message ... Hi, I'm having a ptoblem with sending e-mails using Outlook Express 6.0 . Somehow either OE or the server screwed up or you have something like an anti-virus scanning your email and it did sonething strange. Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular resident protection. Besides that, McAfee,Trend and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's anti-virus seems to be causing problems too. -- Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM Do not reply with email |

Hi,
I checked through the DLL files and found there are a couple missing. Presumably I will need to reinstall or repair outlook. Is there any snags to watch out for ? -- Cheers Easy T "Easy T" wrote: Hi, I'm having a ptoblem with sending e-mails using Outlook Express 6.0 . My OS is Windows XP. To whom are you replying?
What DLL files are missing? Did you disable email scanning? Is your Norton AntiVirus subscription current? Does the behavior persist in a new identity? Please stop referring to Outlook Express as Outlook. They are NOT the same application. -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Desktop Experience - since 2002 AumHa VSOP & Admin http://aumha.net DTS-L http://dts-l.net/ Easy T wrote: I checked through the DLL files and found there are a couple missing.
