Hello, this is Hiro again. This post is a bit old, but I am still struggling.

I am using Windows XP SP2 and Outlook Express 6.
My incoming e-mail has both text and picture file. And I think the text
file and picture file are using different fonts.
Because:
1) When I view the e-mail with the Cyrillic (KOI8-R):
* text is displayed correctly.
* picture file is NOT displayed (it is a red x mark.)

2) When I view the e-mail with the Unicode (UTF-7):
* text becomes funny characters.
* picture file is displayed correctly.

However, in Windows 2000 SP4, I don't have to change the font setting in
Outlook Express 6 at all.
Both the text and picture file are correctly displayed. So, I suspect some
adjustment in Windows XP SP2 may be necessary. Do you have any idea?

Did you Forward As Attachment to Steve as he asked? Without seeing the
actual message, it's hard to tell what exactly is going on. IF not, you
can do that to me and I'll take a look at it.

As for the attached picture, I wouldn't expect the character set used to
affect its display. But maybe there is something unusual in the
message.

As for the message text, if the sender has specified the correct
character set (encoding) to use, then OE should use that automatically
UNLESS you have told OE to override the specified character set. Look
in OE at Tools, Options, Read, Fonts.

If the sender has not specified the character set, that makes it
difficult to view on your end since you will have to tell OE what
font/character set to use.
