Highlight one message, then Ctrl+A will highlight them all, (or hold the Ctrl button down while you select only the messages you want), Now, drag and drop them to the folder on your Desktop. (Easiest if the folder shortcut is on the Taskbar). Now you can copy that folder to a CD and you will be able to read the messages on the CD by double-clicking on them. The downside of this is that messages that have the same subject will be overwritten. Yes sure if this is your wishlist! The folders are normally located at
this place: C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{59BEEA22-B305-44D7-B678-A21E3B069C1A}\Microsoft\Outlook Express USERNAME = YOUR OWN USERNAME! You may need to unhide all hidden folders to see them. HTH Joan and Alan wrote: Hi, Please help. Joan |

Hi, Please help. Joan RTFM. Have you tried clicking the "help" button? ------------------- To find where your folders are, open the Tools menu, click Options, click the Maintenance tab, and then click Store Folder. Copy the contents of the box (click at the beginning, hold and drag to the end to select, then CTRL-C to copy,) and paste it into a Explorer window... there they all are. ------------------- To compact and back up e-mail folders 1.. Select an e-mail folder. 2.. On the File menu, point to Folder, and then click Compact. 3.. To back up the folder, find the folder file, and then copy it to a backup folder, floppy disk, or network drive. Outlook Express e-mail folders have a .dbx extension (for example, "Sent Items.dbx"). Notes a.. Some message files might be too large to back up onto a floppy disk. b.. If you are using a program other than Outlook Express to send e-mail messages to newsgroups, check your e-mail program's documentation for information about compacting and deleting e-mail folders. --------------------- Every bit of this information is right at your fingertips whenever you're sitting in front of your computer, and you don't need the internet to find it. |

Hi Michael :-) Check out the first and third ones in the list: http://www.microsoft.com/athome/secu...uette.mspx#EKB Thanks, Jan... but I know all that stuff cold. I've been using online forums in one form or another for almost 25 years now and I used to run a Fido-net BBS and moderate most of its local forums. It may sound harsh when I talk to people that way, but believe me, it makes a lot more sense to baldly tell people they already have what they need than it does to coddle them and leave them unable to help themselves in the future.
