Sometimes I find an e-mail hyperlink in some text or webpage that I would
like to send mail to. But for some reason when I click on the external link my system freezes while it creates 50 or more instances of Internet Explorer windows which I then have to delete individually. Is there some way to repair this short of reinstalling OE6, and/or IE6? If reinstalling is the only option I have some other questions. My system was installed with Windows XP oem before SP2, and I later istalled SP2 over the top of it. Since both OE and IE reside on the disk in an area called "optional Windows components" is it still possible to uninstall and reinstall them even though SP2 has eliminated the possibility of "repairing" the system per se? If it is possible then do I have to uninstall the program(s) first or can I just reinstall over the top of the current programs? If I have to uninstall first do I go into the "optional Windows components" area and leave "checked" everything that is already checked, and just uncheck the items I need to uninstall, or do I uncheck everything, and then check the programs that I want to unistall? I would really, really like to get this problem fixed so any help would be greatly appreciated. Ted Smith |

Thanks Bruce!!!
The second suggestion you gave did the trick, and I really appreciate it. The first suggestion didn't seem to do anything. It had the following instructions: Go to Start | Run and type the following: "C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg (Check the path to msimn.exe to make sure that is correct) I copied and pasted "C:\PROGRAM FILES\OUTLOOK EXPRESS\MSIMN.EXE" /reg into RUN, and clicked OK several different times and nothing at all happened. The RUN window simply went away. I thought something might of happened without me knowing so I found an external e-mail address to click on and once again got 60 instances of IE openings. Wish I knew what I did wrong there. BUT - all is well that ends well. Again - THANKS A MILLION!!! Ted Smith "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ...
