Default Unable to send messages

This weekend all of the outlook express users in my house stopped being able
to send out email. In trouble shooting the problem, I found out Outlook 2003
works fine but Outlook express using the exact same account will not work.

Any suggestions?

I get the login window. Asking for username and password. The smtp server
and the POP3 are the same DNS name. The inbound is still working fine. The
outbound is my problem.

When I put in the password, it just cycles back to asking me for the password.

No errors at all...

I tried to delete the protected storage system provider...Rebooted and still
no results. I don't think OE is even getting to the SMTP server. How can I
check to see if port 25 is open to the SMTP server?

I am not sure why Outlook 2003 works but Outlook Express doesn't.

Is this one account using multiple identities? If so, go to Tools | Accounts
| Mail and remove the account. Reboot and add the account back. Se if that
helps.

Make a note of all the account settings before you delete the account.

The firewall may be blocking port 25 for everything except Outlook.
