I have had a Hotmail account since way, way back and I've used Outlook
Express 6 to check that account for years and it has worked fine. But in the last few days, OE 6 suddenly started generating error messages when doing a SEND / RECEIVE operation on that hotmail account. Would someone please help me figure out how to get it working again? I don't believe I made any changes at all to my system configuration. One day it worked fine with OE 6 and Hotmail, the next day it generated error messages and failed to work. I received no message from Microsoft indicating there would be an interruption in service - no heads up, no warnings, no mass email, nothing. Here are the two error messages I have been getting when I try to access my account: Unable to poll for new messages on your HTTP server. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Redirected', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 200, Socket Error: 87, Error Number: 0x80004005 Header download for the 'Inbox' folder did not complete. Account: 'Hotmail', Server: 'http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp', Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Redirected', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 200, Socket Error: 87, Error Number: 0x80004005 I would appreciate any help you could provide. |

I do not have IE 7. I use IE 6.
So, I don't know if that is the problem. Is there any other possible answers? Thank you very much for the reply. I hope you can continue to help me. CrystalBall© sez... Most of the time, the error indicates problems on MSN/Hotmail's end (despite

Most of the time, the error indicates problems on
MSN/Hotmail's end (despite what they may say). Here are some things you can check in the meantime: Make certain your time, date, and /time zone/ settings are correct. You mean the main system time and date? Or is there a setting in OE6 you are referring to? IE ToolsInternet OptionsPrivacySites type in hotmail.com live.com You mean under TRUSTED Sites, right? If so, they are there. and Allow All Cookies for each domain. Okie - they are set. If you use a router, you may need to adjust MTU values: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315008 IE Tools Internet Options Advanced HTTP 1.1 toggle on/off; "Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections" must *not* be checked. This I'll work on. I don't think I have changed any configuration options on my system and Hotmail in OE 6 has worked fine for many months. This system stays pretty static. I appreciate the replies - I really do. I just hope someone can find out what is up and if it is on the Hotmail side, I'd like to see it fixed. I've been using OE 6 with Hotmail for so long, it would be strange not having it available to me. I hope this is just some glitch that can be fixed. If you have any additional info, I would very much appreciate hearing it. Thanks |

You mean under TRUSTED Sites, right? No, I was not referring to IE Tools | Internet Options | Security tab.
