Hi,
This is a stumper. It may have something to do with Automatic Upgrades, but I haven't found the connection yet. The problem: The PC is a Intel Quad processor, 4 Gig memory, using 64-bit XP Pro. I am running Bitdefender Internet Security and Prevx 2.0. The PC was re-loaded a few months ago because I had an issue that was similar to this. About 3 weeks ago Outlook Express stopped displaying received .eml messages or some messages that have HTML. It displays text. In some cases a document will be received with photos inline. When forwarded, the received message does not have the photos inline. Also, right in the middle of this I discovered that I can't print to my network printer. I have reloaded the drivers---but this didn't help. The printer appears to be installed---the document go to "printing", but nothing happens. I can print OK from other PC's. In addition, I have files that are shared between PC's in the Workgroup. I can't see the other PC and it can't see me. I have looked everywhere in the networking and security---can't find anything that looks funny. Checked the Web and looked here for help----nothing so far. Looked at the settings in Bitdefender and Prevx-----looks fine. My gut is telling me that something is coming down in the updates that is blocking the network somehow. I had a lot of updates around the time this happened, but not that sure as it was not brought to my attention until later. Any suggestions would be appreciated. -- Rich |

Mike,
I included the printing issue with this one because I think they are related in some way. if you see my previous reply, everything looks good. I checked all these things and more prior to asking for help. I had an issue about 2 months ago where MS Money suddenly decided not to load. Auto updates was also not working at that time. I went through all kinds of trouble shooting including help from Microsoft before I finally through in the towel and did a wipe and install. At that time I felt it had to do with something from the auto updates---but could not prove it. This is the new load that started having trouble when a lot of updates were coming down about 3 weeks ago. Nothing was added or changed to the PC before or during the issue. -- Rich "Michael Santovec" wrote: For your printing/network issues, post in an appropriate newsgroup for your version of Windows, such as news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...xp.network_web news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...wsxp.print_fax Now for your OE problems. Hi,
(A) Sorry, I should have included system specs: PC: XFX nForce 680i LT SLI Motherboard Memory: 4 Gig Processor: Intel Quad Video: Diamond Radeon 1650 Virus: Bitdefender Internet Security '09 - Current Maulwa Prevx 2.0 - Current System: MS XP Pro, 64-Bit Internet Explorer 7 - current Drive: WD SATA 139G (B) I just selected 2 short ones for testing; "Security Update for Windows XP x64 Edition (KB951698) A security issue has been identified in Microsoft DirectShow......." They were also active when I tried the two files. (D) I had an issue a few months ago where MS Money all of a sudden decided it would not load. I did uninstalls and reinstalls, worked with MS Support, who also suggested try a temporary new identity---it didn't work. Upon investigation, I also discovered auto updates were failing as they are now. You have suggested some other things to try, and i will. I'll be back with the results. GRRRRRR..... Well, we've certainly gone far off-topic here ("Can't Display .eml in
