Hello,
I, like apparently many, have French as the only option for Spell Check. I then went to install Vampirefo. Rebooted, ran OE, and while I guess I have English, I get a pop-up error: An Error occurred while the spelling was being checked. I can go into Tools / Options / Spelling, I see English (US). I can edit custom dictionary (it's blank). Everything looks fine...other than it not working. Should I uninstall Vampirefo and try the next option? Something else I can try? What if I uninstall Outlook 2007? I'm guessing no luck as the damage is done, but I won't be using it anyhow. thanks, CB |

First, I would remove Vampirefo, reboot and reinstall. (Never install a
program with your AV running). That may not do it, but start with the easiest first, right? If you still get the error, the first link here should do the job. I use Vampirefo and it /should/ work fine for you Spell Checking does not work in OE: http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm An error occurred while the spelling was being checked or: Spell Check was halted: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=224176 -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "CB" wrote in message news ![]() Hello, I, like apparently many, have French as the only option for Spell Check. Do you have an older version of Office (versions 95 through 2003)?
Installing the proofing tools from one of those (you can leave Office 2007 installed) should restore the English spell checking in OE. Installing Office 2007 uninstalled the older spell checker which is what has confused OE. As for the error you are getting with alternate spell checker, you might be missing a DLL file or have some registry configuration errors. Take a look at these: How To: Fix spell checking in Outlook Express 6 http://www.tech-pro.co.uk/howto_010.html Spell check not working in XP Outlook Express http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/spellcheck.htm Spell Checker or Custom Dictionary Errors http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=178238 -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "CB" wrote in message news ![]() Hello, I, like apparently many, have French as the only option for Spell Check.
