Default Clicking a URL in a NewsGroup Message Lockes IE

My machine has recently started this behavior. When you click a link in the
text of a newsgroup message, it launches the IE Browswer window and then the
Browser window locks up. It has to be killed from the task manager. If I
copy the same url and paste into a browser, it never locks up. The webpage
does not load. You cannot close the window or right click on its icon in the
task bar.

Is there something about the way OE is calling the IE Browser causing this
behavior?

XPSP2 all updates installed.
