When I try to read or send emails with outlook express I frequently get the
message outlook express has encountered a problem and needs to close we opoligise for the inconvenience.Have had this problem for a long time and Microsoft keeps telling me to download this update or that update but I nave service pack 3 and all available updates as far as I know.if anyone can help would be very grateful. thank you |

You would need to be more specific that "this or that".

It's important to know the Details. When you get "encountered a
problem" message, there is usually a "click here" link to see the error report. When you click on the link, it will give a message that will list the Appname XXXX and Modname YYYY. Thanks bruce but when I looked for the problem on the Microsoft website it
said to download a certain file,can,t remember the number but when I tried to download it I was told I allready had a later version on my computer so that did not work .The next time I get the message I will get the report thanks for help[ |

This looks to be an issue with F-Secure. Is that your anti-virus program?
My first guess is that you have e-mail scanning enabled. You must turn it off, and if you still have the problem, uninstall F-Secure and reinstall in custom mode. You should see an option to not use e-mail scanning during the installation. Make sure you opt out of e-mail scanning. Absolutely not. In fact, your saved messages are safer with it off.
Turning off e-mail scanning is safe.
