Hi!
Outlook Express has the feature of being able to automatically play music when an email is opened by the recipient, and I would like to use this function when I send an email, but I have been unable to get it to play the music. I was wondering if anyone knows how to get this feature to work. I am wanting to do this for sending email to someone who is very ill, so your help will be oh so very appreciated! This is what I did: Opened Outlook Express. Clicked on Create Mail. Typed an email message. Clicked on Format. Clicked on Background. Clicked on Sound. The Background Sound window appeared. In the Background Sound window, clicked on Browse. Navigated to the folder that contains the sound/music file I wanted to add to the email. Then double clicked on the sound/music file I wanted to add to the email. Then clicked on OK. Then clicked send email. As soon as I clicked on "send", I got this message: "One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found. When you send this message these pictures will not be included. Are you sure you want to send this message?" (Note - there's no pictures in the email, just text and the option of sending the background music.) The only way to send the message is to press "OK". However, it doesn't seem to work. The recipient doesn't hear any music playing when they open the email. I tried "attaching" the song as an attachment, but that doesn't help, either. (The music is an mp3 file.) Might someone know how to get this to work? (Even as far as not getting the message of "One or more of the pictures in this message could not be found. When you send this message these pictures will not be included. Are you sure you want to send this message?") (Remember that you can't literally test it from the same computer you sent it from, because the email can just reference the music in your personal file that you pulled it from, and make you think that it's really working. ![]() The email has to be opened by someone at a different computer.) [The other thing to remember is to turn your sound on before opening the email, if you normally have it turned off.] I have done a little trouble-shooting, and have made sure that the "Send Pictures with Message" is enabled on the menu bar, under Format, but that did not solve the problem. I can hear the song playing in the background as I compose the email, but as I mentioned, it does not play when it is received by the recipient. The size of the email, when it is received, is only 10kb, so it is obvious that the song is not being sent along with it. Is there anyone who has been able to get this feature to work? Or who might know a workaround? (I know you can edit the HTML by going to "View" on the menu bar and enabling "Source Edit", and then clicking on the "Source" tab.) (But this is too advanced for me!) I'm hoping, though, that there is an easy solution that I am overlooking, and that someone else has been able to get it to work. ![]() I just can't tell you what your help means to me! Thank you oh so much! -- Karen |
