Hi everybody!
Certain automated medical emails received at random from one of my patients are extremely time-sensitive. Ideally, I need an e-mail program that checks for messages every 15 seconds. Outlook Express, as well as most other third party email programs, can only be set to a minumum of checking every 1 minute. Does anybody know of a program that will check at an interval less than 1 minute? Any advice greatly appreciated! Sincerely, TankGirl |

In theory, you can set OE to poll ever 500th of a second! - but I wouldn't
ry it ![]() Close OE and open Regedit You need to change the data for the following registry key..... HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{Your Identity}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0\Mail\Poll For Mail If you open the value, you'll get the option to view the Data as Decimal or Hex - choose Decimal, and set it to 15000 - save and exit regedit. open OE, and youshould find it now polls every 15 seconds HTH - but keep an eye on it!! -- Noel Paton (MS-MVP 2002-2006, Windows) Nil Carborundum Illegitemi http://www.crashfixpc.com/millsrpch.htm http://tinyurl.com/6oztj Please read http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm on how to post messages to NG's "Original TankGirl" wrote in message ... If these messages have to do with a medical condition or medical treatment I
would not trust them to e-mail. The internet mail system is not sufficiently robust for such critical communication. Even if you found an email program that checked for mail every 0.15 seconds, mail servers go down, ISPs experience problems and the internet itself is subject to countless snafus. -- Ted Zieglar "A fool and his data are soon parted." You are not going to find anything to do what you want.
Probably the best bet would be to use instant messaging but then even instant messaging isn't going to work that fast with a direct connection because you would have to take the time to input the data then send. -- David Guess Microsoft MVP Outlook Express "Original TankGirl" wrote: Hi everybody! Does anybody know of a program that will check at an interval less than 1 minute? No email program will do that. Also, if one were capable of doing it, that is the only function that your computer would be capable of, as before it could reliably download a message, another mail poll would begin. This would make both your computer and your email server useless. -- Rich Cervenka Chicago, Illinois, USA |

I suspect that it will require a dedicated computer. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM Please respond in Newsgroup. Change the following in your Registry.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Identities\{nnnnnnnn-nnnn-nnnn-nnnn-nnnnnnnnnnn}\Software\Microsoft\Outlook Express\5.0\Mail] "Poll For Mail"=dword:00003a98 In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, select the radio button Decimal Under Base and enter 15000, which I believe is 15000 milliseconds, the equivalent to 15 seconds. It will show zero in options, but I timed it and it worked. Your ISP will probably excommunicate your for a TOS violation! "DGuess" wrote in message ...
