My father-in-law is having an Outllook Express problem.
He uses Outlook Express on Microsoft XP SP3. When he tries to print a message, it prints in HTML code. When he clicks on a link in the message, nothing happens. Seems like an HTML text vs. Plain Text problem, but his settings are OK. Right now he has HTML checked for all incoming mail. Since December 24 2008 the messages are coming in looking like Rich Text, but Hyperlinks are unusable and when printed, they become an unreadable HTML code. I did several searches and found this: http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=175322 This seems to be the problem exactly, but the solution does not apply. When checking file associations, there are no .TMP files on the list. The article suggests that somehow .TMP files have been associated with a text editor (Notepad). It makes perfect sense, but I can find any such association. I checked Windows Explorer and then through File Associations in Control Panel. If it's any help... I was there that day, (probably caused the problem), and helped him with 2 files that he had downloaded from a Word Doc. The were from Norway and needed a Powepoint Viewer to be seen. I downloaded the viewer and associated the files with it. Today, I had him Remove that program along with an Amazon mp3 file downloading app, as they were the only changes made that day. Since I am trying to help him "over the phone", it's been frustrating. I'm hoping there is an easy fix, that I'm not aware of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
