It's attached as soon as you attach it.

The attachment is only then really part of the message when it is _saved_ in OE for the first time. This can happen with "Send" (in Outbox) or "Save" (in Drafts). Try this: - Create a dummy file on your desktop. - Attach this file to a message (e-mail or post doesn't matter). Do NOT send this message, but keep the composing window open. - Delete the dummy. - NOW send the message. Notice the error message concerning the file. Saludos Roland -- Probleme mit OE? ... 1. when the file is dropped on email body or 2. when the email is sent? As soon as you compose the message. The file isn't "attached" somewhere separate of the e-mail. The attachment is *IN* the e-mail's body as an encoded MIME part. It is only your e-mail client that *displays* the e-mail as having an "attachment" when in fact the file's contents have been encoded into a section within the body of your message. Disposition=inline for a MIME part within the body of the message indicates that the e-mail client should show that part within the body of the message for however that e-mail client displays the body. Disposition=attach indicates to the e-mail client that it should show an indicator somewhere that there is a MIME part containing a file but not to show it within the body. However, the e-mail client can choose to display the "attached" file (which is within the body) any way it wants depending on how the program's author coded the e-mail client. -- __________________________________________________ Post replies to the newsgroup. The file is attached when you click the Send button in the message
composition window. At that point the message is written to the Outbox folder with the attachment encoded into it. It doesn't matter then when the message is actually sent to the SMTP mail server. If you alter the attachment file after you do the drag-and-drop (or Insert, File Attachment) but before you click the send button in the message composition window the updated file is attached. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Jack" replyTo@newsgroup wrote in message ... 1. when the file is dropped on email body or 2. when the email is sent? |
