Default Messages That Just Stick In The Outbox

Rubbish & Codswallop...

The developers of Outlook Express properly understood the implicit "Send
Later" Function.

Compare it to the Paper World which preceded the Cybernetic World.

Busy executive reviews point paper written for CEO, signs it and puts it in
his Outbox for secretary to pick up and deliver.

Then he receives phone call from close friend and colleague who tells him
New Important Information.

So, he picks up point paper from Outbox, makes ink changes and sends it to
secretary for retyping.

Outlook Express worked just fine on that model...

A message in the Outbox was NOT sent immediately if the "Send messages
immediately" box was UNCHECKED.

But it WAS sent when _Send and Receive All_ was clicked later.

WLM should do the same.

The Outbox was never meant as a holding place from which you
can re-edit messages. That's what the Drafts folder is for.
You relied on sloppy coding in OE to get away with that practice.

No...

That's not the way I want to do it.

I click _Send_ and the spellcheck is performed then the message winds up
in
the Outbox.

The software should respond to user commands -- not arbitrarily dictate
sequencing -- in this case.

It works fine in Outlook Express.

Why were counterproductive changes made in WLM?...

And precisely what changes were made?

Are you referring to newsgroup posts or emails or both?

Both email and newsgroup posts -- in WLM. I'm sending this from OE.

Are these messages or posts that you have altered?

Altered? How?

If I am reading a lot of messages in a newsgroup, I sometimes have
posts that do not send immediately from the Outbox.

I do not know if my firewall has closed the connection to the news
server or something else is happening.

Clicking Sync will send the posts.

No, that doesn't work for me. But much later, often hours, the post
will eventually be sent when I click on Sync.

It's curious. I can click on Sync half a dozen times and no joy --
nor
do I see the notation, of this sort -- "One messages [sic] to upload
to
msnews.microsoft.com" in Details.

Then, several hours later, the ruddy message ["One messages [sic] to
upload" appears in Details -- and the message will be sent, when I
click on Sync.
