Help!! I had to do a system recovery on my laptop. I was able to establish
an account on OE6 but cannot add another account for my wife. I kept all the particulars to re-enter but all fails. Also I clicked on the Remember my password option in the accounts properties but I am required to enter my password everytime. I have Windows XP on a Pentium 4 processor with 512 meg Ram. Can anyone help? Phil |

Try creating a new identity in Outlook Express, switch to it and set up the
accounts there and test it. If all works then your earlier identity (most likely the default "Main Identity") is corrupted. You can import your messages from the problem identity into your new one using File/Import/Messages, selecting OE6 and From an Identity. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Hi Jim,
I did a lot of updating and after installing Windows XP SP2 I was able to create the separate email accounts. The problem I have now is that I am required to enter my password everytime I open OE6 or switch identities. I checked the "Remember my Password" box in both accounts (mail properties) and click apply, but the password disappears the next time I look into the properties of each account. I remember about 4 years ago I had the same problem. I got advice on how to correct this but have long forgotten. But for now I can get into the accounts, I have restored all archived emails and imported the address books. Any suggestions? This KB article has the most definitive help for the problem (which is
usually in the Protected Storage): Save password setting not retained in Outlook or Outlook Express: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290684 You could also download pspv.exe from this link and use it to explore the entries in your Protected Storage and delete the problem entry: Protected Storage PassView v1.62: Recover Protected Storage passwords: http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/pspv.html -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Hi Jim,
Thanks for the link. It worked!! I rembered that it had to do with the Registry but that was about all. Everything is fine now. Again, thanks.
