Default Question about e-mails that were lost

Is there any way to retrieve e-mails from an old Outlook Express program that
disappeared after I downloaded a newer Outlook Express version? (This was on
a computer that only works with Windows 98. The newer Outlook Express version
is 6 SP1.) Please help.

*(I did NOT think to back up the e-mail beforehand. There really should be a
warning about e-mail being deleted on the download page of Microsoft's
website.)

Default Question about e-mails that were lost

How did you get OE6 on Win 98? What if you revert to the old version?

Default Question about e-mails that were lost

Did you just install IE6 SP1 (which also installs OE6)? Doing so seldom, if
ever, affects OE's message store.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of
your current Identity's store
(http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain). Write it down.

In Windows Explorer, search for .DBX files. Any found which are not located
in your current store will most likely be those from your OE5.x Identity.
You can import this data using File | Import | Messages | (select) OE6 |
(select) From a store directory | Point the import wizard to the old
identity's store location.

If you upgraded from IE4 to IE6 SP1 (unlikely): In Windows Explorer, search
for .MBX and .IDX files. These are the old OE4 files. Follow these steps
to import the data into OE6:

Should there be a big sign at all intersections that says, "Warning!
Failure to stop for a red light may harm you and your car!" ??

People don't understand that hard drives can fail until they do.
