Is there a "free" way to retrieve lost email? As I switched identities on
OE, I could see "receiving" mail in bottom right and there were at least 15. The computer froze, I had to turn off manually. When I rebooted, no new email. Help. Jane |

If the download never completed, the messages should still be on your
server. Close OE and delete the Pop3uidl.dbx file in the message store. Open OE and see if they download again. Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Write the location down and navigate to it in Windows Explorer or, copy and paste it into Start | Run. In WinXP, Win2K & Win2K3, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start | Control Panel | Folder Options Icon | View, or in Windows Explorer | Tools | Folder Options | View. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP Outlook Express Imperial Beach, CA "aandj" wrote in message ... It will work if you have deleted but not compacted a file and so this may work for you. Bill Ridgeway |
