Mr. Pickering, I have double checked the connection and all is
correct. I have run the modem troubleshooter and it reports that the modem is functioning correctly. I am reluctant to tamper with the Windows Firewall setting because of the security vulnerability issue; I checked EZTrust's website and find nothing this problem; and it seems to me unlikely that Outlook Express is damaged since the computer is new (how could I tell if it were damaged?). Is it possible that this problem could relate to my telephone line, i.e. static on the line? Thank you. |

OK, in Outlook Express' menu, click Tools/Options/Connection and verify that
you do not have the option set to "Hang up after Sending and Receiving." If that fails to resolve the problem, consider creating a new identity using OE menu, File/Identities/Add New Identity. Then switch to that new identity, create your mail account in it and test it. If all works well, your earlier identity may be damaged, particularly if it is the default "Main Identity." You can easily import your mail messages from the problem identity using the menu, File/Import/Messages, selecting OE6 and From an Identity. Good luck. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 "Mary" wrote in message ups.com...
