About 2 months ago, I posted a message here in which I commented that I was
seeing lots of subject lines beginning with . Normally, these would NOT
be the first message in a thread, but rather, they'd be the subsequent
responses. However, they ARE appearing as the first messages in a hierarchy.
A number of people suggested that there might be some corruption in my OE6
files. I've since moved to a new computer, and I'm seeing the same thing.
Although I migrated my email message files from the old machine, I view
newsgroups through a completely separate OE identity for a number of
reasons, so when I began using the new computer, I just created a fresh ID.
In other words, if the files on the old machine were ill, they never arrived
on the new computer.

I've seen this problem in moderated newsgroups, because of something the
moderator was doing wrong. But, all of the groups that have this problem now
are UNmoderated. Is it possible for my ISP's news server to cause these
problems?
