The User Account's current Identity may be damaged, especially if its the
default Main Identity. Try one or more of the mail accounts in a new Named Identity... File | Identities | Add new identity Assuming all is well, (1) compact all folders in the old identity, (2) import messages from the old identity into the new one, and then (3) delete the old one (File | Identities | Manage Identities). To avoid such corruption in futu - Don't use Inbox or Sent Items to archive messages. Move them to local folders created for this purpose. - Empty Deleted Items folder daily. - Frequently perform a manual compact of all OE folders while "working offline". More at http://www.insideoe.com/files/maintain.htm - Do not cancel Automatic Compacting, should it occur, and do not attempt to close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic Compacting is taking place. - Disable email scanning by your anti-virus application. It can cause corruption (i.e., loss of messages) and provides no additional protection: Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tuto...ning/index.htm -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-IE, Mail, Security, Windows Client - since 2002 chrisandaj wrote: I have my home computer running Windows XP and Outlook Express 6.0. Here's my problem. I have formed three user accounts on my computer, two limited accounts and one admin. account. When I try to use Outlook Express in my limited accounts, OE will not fully open up and freezes. I look at the task manager at this point and see that my CPU is maxed out-it's usually over 90% running "msimn.exe" which I know has something to do with OE. But when I run OE on my admin. account it works fine, even with the 3 identities I've formed for 3 different email accounts my ISP allows. http://www.daniweb.com/forums/thread10656.html If you look up this link on this forum, this person has the exact same problem I'm having, but it's so old and the provided solutions are so full of high tech jargon, I wonder if there is an easier solution to the problem or maybe someone could "dumb" it down for me a bit? I would prefer not to lose the emails I already have, but if that's not in the cards, then I guess that's just how it goes. I've looked on this forum and haven't found a thread about this particular issue, but maybe I just missed it too. If the answer is somewhere I neglected to look, any directions would truly be appreciated and I apologize now if the directions are redundant. Thank you in advance and my step children thank you because they really want to use their own email addresses and I really don't like doing much as on the computer as an admin. because I've heard it can be dangerous. |
