HI,
I am running windows 2000 pro. and using oe version 6. I changed from the defualt store to a new store which contained old emails. I was able to read some of the messages folders and others were not appearing in the folder list. I then decided to move back to my default message area. OE6 did not give me the usual option that its going to delete any folders in that store area. I only found out when it started copying! files. After which i could only see only old mails non of the new ones. When i use windows explorer i am able to see all these folders which have my mail and the latest date . How can i recover my new mail. Thanks |

It sounds like you have overwritten the old store. Changing store folders
to one that already contains data can have that result. You may have a chance to recover your old messages by using DBXpress in its Recover from Disk mode. See www.oehelp.com for more info. It is for this reason that you should never move or change the store folder, unless and until you have safely backed up all of your stored messages to an alternate location for safekeeping. -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Write down the names of the dbx files you found in Windows Explorer that are
missing from OE. Open OE and create folders with the exact same name. If one already exists, move that mail to another folder with a different name. For all the folders you have now created, copy any message into each one. ***You must do this***. Close OE and go back to Windows Explorer. Expand the path to reveal the current Message Store folder, but don't open it. Now click on the folder with the missing mail to reveal the dbx files in the right hand pane. One by one, drag each dbx file to the new Message Store folder. You will see a prompt asking if you want to overwrite this folder, (the one message you put in it),. Click Yes. The messages in the dbx files will now be in the folders you created. -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "sjcon" wrote in message ... Delete the Folders.dbx file then restart OE and a new one will be built.

Tools Options Maintenance Store folder will reveal the location of your current Identity's store (http://www.insideoe.com/files/store.htm#storemain). Write it down.
In WindowsXP and 2000, the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Explorer, you must enable Show Hidden Files and Folders under Start Control Panel Folder Options View. In Explorer, search for .DBX files. Any found which are not located in your current store will most likely be those from your OE5 Identity. You can Import them using FileImportMessages.... -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Security, Shell/User) sjcon wrote: HI, I am running windows 2000 pro. and using oe version 6.
