-- Ron Sommer In your OE go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and write down where OE is storing its data. Close OE. Open Windows Explorer. * click Tools | Folder Options | View and set it to Show hidden files and folders. Go to your store folder and copy all of the DBX files to an empty Windows folder. Make sure you include Folders.dbx. Close Windows Explorer and start the other *Identity*. Go to Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store Folder and write down the path to the data, Click Change IMPORTANT WARNING: For the next two steps decline any offer to move the files or folders or messages. Enter the other store folder path and click Okay. Close OE. Reopen it and answer 'No' to an offer to move things. Go back to the first OE and Choose File | Import | Messages and import from the other store directory. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE Please respond in Newsgroup only. Do not send email http://www.fjsmjs.com "Tiny" wrote in message ... Thats what I want to know how to do can you point me in the right direction please Tiny "Ron Sommer" wrote in message ... When in the office you connect through a domain and use one Identity. On the site, you connect ???????? and use another Identity. So why aren't you using the same message store for both Identities? -- Ron Sommer "Tiny" wrote in message ... thanks Jim but I am only using the laptop I don't use A desktop machine as well I have tried using a file to transfer the messages to but it doesn't work that well. I have to keep transferring messages back & forth constantly as I can be connected to the domain for 2hrs in the morning then go on site then back on the domain so I have to keep transferring messages both ways 3 or 4 times a day. What I need to do is be able to use the same identity when I am connected to the domain or standalone on site ,most of my messages are cad drawings or pictures which I need to be able to access all the time for working on & sending back to clients Tiny "Jim Pickering" wrote in message ... The only way to do that is to make the laptop a "clone" of the Desktop machine. For how to clone Outlook Express on two machines, see the info at this link: http://www.insideoe.com/backup/bu_full.htm And, any changes to the Desktop setup, such as adding/deleting local folders, or adding/deleting a newsgroup subscription will require a "Re-cloning" of the laptop. It's not too much work but it can become a PITA trying to keep two machines in sync. Do you really have to do this? Why not just copy the desired messages to a Transfer folder for this purpose? If you want to try that, see the info in the last paragraph at this link for details: http://www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx -- Jim Pickering, MVP, Outlook Express https://mvp.support.microsoft.com/pr...8-1171988A62D6 Please deliver feedback to the newsgroup, so that others can be helped. Thanks. "Tiny" wrote in message ... Could anybody please tell me how I can use the same identity in outlook express when my laptop top is connected to my server or when I am off site with it , as at the moment I cannot see any emails I received when connected to the server when I am not in the office & visa versa Tiny |
