If the attachments are large, the may be split into multiple messages.
All message parts except the first will appear as gibberish. This is very common with AVI, MOV, MPEG, MP3, WAV, WMA, WMV and ZIP files. To recreate the original, all parts must be there. For news posts in Outlook Express (and also e-mail messages in OE5+), highlight all the parts (hold Ctrl key while clicking each part, or use shift-click for a range), then select Tools (OE4) or Message (OE5+) then Combine and Decode and follow the steps. You will end up with a message window with the decoded attachment file that you can then save, and use as desired (File, Save Attachment). If using OE5 and above, turn off the Preview Pane (View, Layout) to avoid the delays with OE searching for hyperlinks. You can add a button to the tool bar for this. -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Martin G" wrote in message ... Michael
Thanks for the response. These are simple jpg. screen captures that do not view, if I use OE6 32bit at work it all works fine. The link included will take you to an example. http://discussion.autodesk.com/threa...sageID=5107868 If I view this thread in OE x64 I see nothing. If I click the attachment and open I see the top few lines of the image. If I view this thread in OE 32bit it all works as expected. Thanks for any advice Martin -- Win XP x64 SP1 Opteron 175 Dualcore Asus A8N32-SLI Quadro FX 3400 4 Gig RAM "Michael Santovec" wrote: If the attachments are large, the may be split into multiple messages. You pointed to a web based newsgroup. I presume that they also off NNTP
access which is what your problem is with. If on the x64 system you look at the message source (Ctrl-F3) for one of the problem messages, does the message seem to be complete? One thing to try is at work, from the 32-bit OE is save some sample news posts with images (File, Save As) to NWS files. Take the files home. Then copy them to the x64 system and double click a NWS file. IT should open in an OE news reading window. IF the image displays OK, that would point to a downloading problem. IF they don't display, that would point to a displaying problem. Also, are you trying to view the images in the OE preview pane or message reading window or opening the attachment in another program? If you are trying to view in OE message, can you save or open the attachment and then view it properly? -- Mike - http://pages.prodigy.net/michael_santovec/techhelp.htm "Martin G" wrote in message ...
