Default Problem Manually Compacting OE 6

Bill

What does the original folder contain that are not in the replacement?
Are there messages that were created before you switched to OE6? Any
with attachments?

Hope this helps.

I came back to the top to start another series of messages. I
created a new identity and followed all of the advice here and when I
did a compact all it blew up on directdb.dll. I thought about some
information I had not given. When compacting and it stops on a folder
it creates a backup file of the folder. It then seems to either
delete or create a truncated the original folder (the backup size is
smaller than the original dbx file) of the folder it was having a
problem compacting. Now the backup is a good folder. If I rename
.bak to .dbx OE 6 has no problem accessing the folder.
Still open to suggestions :-). I am going to pound on this until it
works.

Running WinXP Pro SP3. Using OE 6. I am having a problem manually
compacting my dbx files. I keep getting an error in the directdb.dll
file. I do not leave any messages in the inbox. Everything that is
saved is moved to a folder. I have tried deleting and rebuilding the
folders dbx file. What happens when its stops compacting a file is
the file is deleted and a backup file is created. This does happen
on any particular dbx file. I have tried searching the internet but
have not found an answer that works. They only new software I have
installed is Norton AntiVirus 2009 so I guess I am suspicious.
Anybody have any suggestions?
