The reason I set up a couple of different accounts is that we stopped using
a "catch all" account. Plus when one account gets to loaded with spam, etc., we create and start using a different one and delete the old one. FYI- My wife's and my accounts are more detailed than just pat@xxx. I was using that as an example but do like your suggestions. I could have said pat345tr@xxxx but then I would have to change it after this session is over. Dam- ![]() thanks, "Twayne" wrote in message ... Taking a different view on this, here is some food for thought: It sounds like you have a catch-all e-mail account/s. That's usually a server setting that can be turned off and on. It's bad to use a catch-all because then every spam or botched or mistaken email will go into that account. So if that's the case IMO you should stop using catch-alls. Anyone who botches your address misakenly might have the entry to to their address book and they'd never know it wasn't a real address of yours. If you aren't using catch-alls then perhaps there are unexpected "Reply To" settings in you mail client's setup. The Reply To: should be the same address the mail is sent from unless there is a strong reason to make it otherwise. If your e-mail addresses are actually like , you have highly guessable usernames that are going to draw a lot of dictionary spam. "Pat" is just too easy to guess; and most spammers will also add Patty, Patrick, and other spellings too, hoping to hit a real e-mail box. It sounds like addresses can be created/deleted at will, so better usernames are, for example, . Or and so on. Or, most ISPs these days are allowing names like also. But, Pat999, pat100, etc. are bad, because spammers dictionary those, too. They just start with and work their way up to . So the digits need to be not at the beginning or end of the username. You might also check on your ISP and see that spam filtering is turned on, if they offer it. Most do these days. But spam still gets though; they have to be careful not to kill goodmail. I don't know how much the preceding has to do with your issues, but it's possible it's a lot to do with it.
