Default Problems inserting pictures

When I open the window to insert a picture, it opens to browse just fine, but
once I find the picture I want, I have to double click the picture to select
it, clicking on open doesn't work. THEN when I get back to the insert window
and click ok, it inserts the picture, but the window doesn't go away. I can
click ok over and over, and it inserts the picture over and over, and the
cancel button doesn't work. It worked find the earlier. I've reinstalled
Outlook and IE, rebooted, etc, etc, etc and it still happens. What can I do
to fix this?

See here and make sure you don't have any 3rd party programs interfering
with OE: www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

If that doesn't help, then try going to File | Identities and set up a new
Identity and then try inserting a pic and see if that works.

What is the name of the folder to which you browse to select the pic?

My Documents\My Pictures

I just copied one of the folders inside My Pictures to the desktop, and the
file browser won't let me maneuver up the folder tree. I can move deeper into
folders, but not back out, so I'm stuck. The cancel button still won't work,
so I have to force quit OE in order to get out of it. This is getting to be
quite annoying. I can attach files just fine, but no inserting.

What did you turn off?

I turned off outgoing e-mail scanning. Not sure why I'd need that on anyway.
If I'm sending it I know it's clean! :-D
