The procedures seem rather difficult. Although I feel I'm an intermediate
pc user, I've always avoided touching the registry and in this case also.

Does anyone know another freeware or shareware that can do this more or less
automatically or more easily without having to manually edit the registry?

What you can do is use OEQB (see www.oehelp.com/OEBackup/) and that will
backup everything on the old computer.
That will give you the dbx files that contain the messages and also backup
the registry keys.

But you will still have to do some registry editing to get things the same
between the two machines. You would first have to delete the registry keys
involved on the new machine (Identities and Accounts keys at least) and then
modify the store root value to point to a directory where the dbx files
would be located.

If you want more details post back, but you can't do it without some
registry modifications.

Why don't you ask this in 'microsoft.public.jp.outlookexpress.win'?

'Exma4'

Or you can use 'Files and Settings Transfer Wizard'.
