I've had this problem for a while and have switched over..reluctantly to
Outlook.. and also web based interface but OE is still preferred for Hotmail. Anyway I am able to use OE with my Earthlink acct so the basic setup is fine. However, when I install a Hotmail acct I am unable to download the folder files. I get the following mssage: An unknown Error has occured Redirected Configuration: Account: Hotmail Server: http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp User name: [removed hotmail account name] Protocol: HTTPMail Port: 0 Secure(SSL): 0 Code: 80004005 Anyone have an idea of what's going on? a |

Is it a paid Hotmail account? If you got it after Sept. 04, that's what you
need. If you want to use Outlook Express to access your Hotmail account, you must have an MSN subscription. Bruce,
Thanks for the prompt reply. No, it's not a paid account and I've had it for years. Besides I can access it using Outlook from this computer (just not Outlook Express) and I can get to it using OE from another computer. This behavior occurs the same with all of my several Hotmail accts from this machine.Any other suggestions? ss "Bruce Hagen" wrote in message ... Is it a paid Hotmail account? Try deleting the old Hotmail account and recreating it. Maybe your identity is corrupted. Create a new identity under which you define the HTTPmail account for Hotmail and see if it works that way. -- __________________________________________________ Post replies to the newsgroup. Did you try disabling your anti-virus program (from scanning your e-mails)? Have you disabled anything else that sits on that host and is between your e-mail client and the mail server, like a firewall, anti-spam software, etc? -- __________________________________________________ Post replies to the newsgroup. My problem is another way around. I can not use Outlook 2003 to access to my
Hotmail account (I've been using this for ages from the around Outlook 97 time) after Outlook 2003 sercurity update on 18-Mar. I've got similar message saying can not connect to http://services.msn.com/svcs/hotmail/httpmail.asp. Currently I have to use OE for Hotmail. I need to get back to Outlook as all my folders are in there (I only use Outlook 2003 for Hotmail). Last night, after searching around, I've found the answer for this: uninstall
the latest Security update for Outlook (dated 14-Mar-2006) which I installed on 18-Mar-2006. Getting back to normal now - that means the patch has a bug. banhien "banhien" wrote: My problem is another way around.
