Default DISAPPEARING NEW MAIL

When my 86 year old Mother types a long email she will get to the end and it
just disappears. Sometimes the "Save changes" window comes on, sometmes not.
When it does and she says yes, the mail saved in drafts is only the last
couple of letters of her long mail. This does not happen when she types
short emails. Any ideas?

The only time she should get the "Save Changes" window is if she is
trying to close the message without sending it. That can happen by
clicking the X in the upper right hand corner, or by using a keyboard
sequence such as Alt-F4.

Another way a message can seem to disappear is if it is minimized or
gets hidden behind another window.

Ways to lose all the text in a message would include hitting Ctrl-A
(perhaps trying for Shift-A) which highlights the whole message. Then
next character typed will then replace the message wiping out all the
previous typing.

She might try using File | Save As while she is composing. That saves to
the disk and not to the Drafts folder and is less likely to get corrupted.
