Default Outlook error message cannot send

I started using comast about a month ago. Outlook worked just fine, but now
I can only receive emails and not send. Comast says they don't support
outlook. Im ususing McAfee for virus scanning v. 9.1 build 9.1.10 engine
4.4.00 dat 4.0.4724 and zonealarm (free version) as my firewall.

Any suggestions

these are the error messages I have received

Task 'mail.comcast.net - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC60) : 'Your
outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue
to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet
service provider (ISP). The server responded: 24.0.176.59 has too many

Default Outlook error message cannot send

My neighbor is having the same problem also with comcast. They claim it must
be a windows problem an they can receive using the comcast.net site. I've
tried Outlook, Outlook Express and Thunderbird with the same results. What
makes this hard to understand is it's happening with two pc's in the house.
They also are using McAfee. Emails been fine for two years with comcast and
the problem just started about a week ago.

I presume that 24.0.176.59 is the IP address that Comcast has assigned
to you.

Do you have more than one PC connected to the cable modem?

The error message says that some program is already sending via the SMTP
mail server and so won't let you make the connection to send again.

This could indicate that:
- 2 PCs on your LAN are trying to send at the same time
- 2 mail programs on one PC are trying to send at the same time
- Your anti-virus program is scanning outgoing mail and maybe
malfunctioning
- Your PC is infected with a virus/Trojan/worm and sending mail out

It looks like you are trying to open two connections to the SMTP message
submission server, as Michael Santovec has suggested. That probably has
nothing to do with the program you downloaded. More likely, it is a recent
change implemented by Comcast to control outbound connections.

About the only way to get around that, short of using a router to schedule
server access by time block, would be to run an SMTP relay client on a
single LAN computer, and route all other computer email on the LAN through
that single SMTP client. Properly done it would be transparent to users on
the LAN; I do it that way (but not for that reason).
