I am running windows XP and use outlook express for emails. Over the last
3/4 months I have experienced problems with sending email, incoming are no
problem - on sending email I am getting an error message,
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.orangehome.co.uk',
Server: 'smtp.orangehome.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL):
No,
Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have tried to sort it myself and sometimes by rebooting the PC clears
the
problem but now that does not clear it up - I have spoken with Orange and
they are not much help

That'll teach 'em to go to Orange (UK) for anything...

My Net connection and e-mail is with Pipex, admittedly another company that
has a checkered ownership history unfortunately, but at least the service
has remained fairly good, even if the residential tech help call centre is
now somewhere in Asia (India or Philippines, can't recall), full of very
polite but useless people. However, their business support centre is in the
UK and has, more importantly, people who seem to understand the issues and
usually resolve them (I have teo broadband lines, one each).

If I were to change I would seriously consider O2, another mobile phone
supplier.

Are you connected to the Internet via Orange when trying to send?

If you are connected via another ISP including any public WiFi network,
that is the problem. The ISP you are connected via is blocking port 25.
