Hi Bruce
When I carried ou a "full installation" I can only assume that my old OE was wiped (everything else was). I recovered all my OE information using the "OEQuick Backup tool as per my previous discussion "OEQuick Backup Query" dated 30 oct 2009. Everything else seem ok in OE i.e. I can receive and reply to emails, create new folder, move emails between folders etc. I just can't create a new email. -- Regards Pete "Bruce Hagen" wrote: When you did a "full installation", did you do it in a manner that completely wiped out your old OE? IOW, do you have a new identity now, or did you restore the old identity? -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Imperial Beach, CA "Pete Harris" wrote in message ... I have just been trying to to scan a document to email from my "HP Photosmart 2575 All-in-None Printer . Scanner . Copier). During his process I was prompted to configure "Microsoft Outlook", as I use OE6 I cancelled this. I then Scanned my document to file with the intention attaching it to an email in OE6. However when I click on "Create Mail" I repeatedly get the message "Outlook Express has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." with the option to send an error report and this problem has only started since trying to san to email. Finally 2 days ago I carried out a "full installation of Windows XP followed by a full "Windows Update", not sure if this is relevant but though it worth metioning. Can anyonr please help? -- Regards Pete . |

See PA Bear's reply especially regarding the MAPI issue. If you have never
been able to do what you are trying to do, it probably is a MAPI issue. Regarding your reinstall of Windows, if you used OEQB to backup and restore OE, (normally a good option), you restored the exact same OE including any corruption it may have had. Try a new identity. You may have a damaged identity especially if it is the default Main Identity. File | Identity | Add New Identity. Create a new one and test it. If all is well, you can import your messages and Address Book from the old identity and delete it. Note: Do not use the word Main in the name of the new identity.
