I originally set up a GoDaddy hosted email account as POP. In the past year I've created many, many folders under the PERSONAL folder. I now want to change the GoDaddy account to an IMAP based account. I removed the POP account and created an IMAP account but the INBOX for the IMAP account shows up a separate account rather than the INBOX under the PERSONAL folder.
Is there a way to "move" the IMAP account under the PERSONAL folder so that the INBOX in PERSONAL corresponds to the newly configured IMAP account? Any help or suggestions is appreciated... |

Your question really is: "I used to have a Godaddy POP3 account setup in my Outlook (unknown version) and now I am switching to IMAP4 account at Godaddy but Outlook created a separate set of folders for the IMAP account. Can I store those messages in my previous PST." The answer is No. IMAP4 accounts are different from POP3 in that they support their own folders. You can configure a rule to automatically copy your messages, but there is little point in it. What makes sense is to configure Outlook to open inside the IMAP Inbox folder by default. For Outlook 2007, click on Tools - Options - Other - Advanced Options - Startup in this folder Using IMAP4 is a good decision. You'll enjoy resiliency in having your mail available from anywhere. Your ISP will experience lower server load as compared to POP3. If you remove the top "Personal Folders" PST from Manage data files, Outlook will recreate it anyway, so there is no way to get rid of it. -- Leonid S. No, you need the personal folders for calendar and contacts, which are not
supported by imap. If you want the imap inbox to be you start folder, go to Tools, Options, other tab, Advanced button - top option. See http://www.slipstick.com/tutorials/s...tartfolder.htm if you need more help with this option. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Do you sync your mailbox with a smartphone or pda? http://forums.slipstick.com/showthread.php?t=39473 "rfoszcz" wrote in message ...
