Afternoon,
Very strange issue, My PC uses office 2007 and everything is great, i had to log on to another users machine to resolve a problem and opened outlook (logged on as me) and configured the profile for me so i could check my mail as i was going to be there a while, When outlook 2000 opened it said there was a problem with the default view with an ok button, so i clicked it, it opened the mailbox and then started removing all the emails in my inbox. I thought this to be very strange i never had a problem like that before with 2000 before i upgraded and just chalked it down to an issue with the machine, recently i have had another user do something similar, they work with 2007 and came to visit our site and use a machine that had 2000 and they lost about 600 emails, i have looked at there mailbox on exchange and the emails are no longer on the server. Firstly has anyone else seen anything like this before? and Secondly how can i stop it happening again? Mike |

This likely happened because you configured the mail profile to use a PST as the delivery location, either because Outlook 2000 is in Internet Mail Only mode or because you chose a PST for Corporate/Workgroup mode. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

were using MS Exchange 2003 and all mail gets delivered to the Mailbox, PST's are only used for archived email.
Not sure if it was anything to do with the error about the error "problem with the default view" |

Not sure if it was anything to do with the error about the error "problem with the default view" Perhaps the view is hiding the object you believe were removed. Have you tried resetting the view? -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

... i've tried the outlook.exe /cleanviews if thats the same? Yes, that will reset all views. There's nothing I know in Outlook 2000 that would delete things from an Exchange mailbox as you describe. Perhaps someone else will have an idea. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
