Hi
I have been using Outlook 2007 with Outlook Connector for my Hot mail. Today I received a message telling me that I must upgrade my Connector. I followed the instruction till I came to the question of Repair Connector Remove Connector I choose Repair, but after some installation, the same question came back and my Outlook does not appear to get to Hot Mail. What is going on and what do I have to do when I come to the choice of Repair vs. Remove. Thanks Don S |

Hi
I did restart it a couple of times, but after a REPAIR action. Actually I think I have it solved -- per suggestion from Duncan McC did work -- after some retries. The answer is to "Remove" the Connector and then install it from the MS site. After some confusing screens and processes, and restarting the computer, the problem was resolved. The BIG gripe I have is that if this came from Microsoft, it was a really "****ty" (using professional language) set of directions -- actually no direction or explanation at all. For while I thought this was a virus or similar. Hard to understand why after years of usage, this change had to be made, unless MS did a backdoor installation of SW which was no longer compatible with "new" stuff. Go to http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...225181033.aspx Download the full install manually. Install it. DO NOT UNINTSALL your previous version as this will cause you to lose your connector accounts. -- "You are, number 6" - The New Number 2 |

The problem isn't the lack of instructions - it should be seamless and
automatic, with your only effect being clicking ok a time or two. Unfortunately there is a bug in the automatic update process - its now disabled until they figure it out. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: New Poll: What type of email account is your main account? http://forums.slipstick.com/showthread.php?t=42402 "Don S." wrote in message ... Download the full install manually. Install it. DO NOT UNINTSALL your
previous version as this will cause you to lose your connector accounts. I've never lost the accounts when I uninstall the connector - they are still in the profile. They are only lost if you remove them from the profile. You need to close outlook, install the connector you downloaded (uninstall is optional) and restart outlook - the important part is closing outlook before running the install. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: New Poll: What type of email account is your main account? http://forums.slipstick.com/showthread.php?t=42402 |
