I have Outlook 2003, and use it only for Internet Mail, using the POP3
interface. I have about ten email accounts, but use one account far more than others. I'll call it my "primary account". While I do NOT have the primary set as my default account, I do have it second in the list of accounts, so that when I am doing a full send/receive the messages from this account are among the first downloaded. For reasons I won't go into, I had to delete and re-create this account. Based on my OL settings, which involve leaving my thousands of non-deleted messages on the mail servers as backups, this account re-creation is a time-consuming re-download process that requires carefully creating temporary rules and account modifications to avoid screwing things up. Anyway, I've gone through this exercise a few times before (although that may have been with OL 98), but this time a new and unwelcome wrinkle has appeared. Namely, Outlook now downloads the primary account LAST, even though I moved it back up to position number 2 in the email accounts list. Of course, at the top of the accounts list it says. "Outlook processes e-mail for these accounts in the following order", but it's not doing that anymore since it's shunting the re-created primary to last. I've tried temporarily resetting the primary account to the default (which of course moves it to the very top of the accounts listing); temporarily changing my "Send/Receive All" Group so that this is the only account included; and moving it down in the list and then back up...all to no avail. Does anyone have an idea how I might be able to remedy this WITHOUT DELETING AND RE-CREATING ANY ACCOUNTS (as I explained above, doing that is a major pain with my setup)? I just want OL to go back to downloading the accounts in the order they're shown, as it supposed to Thanks in advance. |
