I would start by reloading Office - sounds like the path or program location

One of my users has been having a similar problem. After reading this entire
thread, I checked the file associations on my machine and compared them to the file associations for Excel on her machine. I did need to repair the association and now it works beautifully! Thank you so much for the suggestion! I knew it had something to do with the file type, but didn't make the connection to check the association. thank you again!
