Hello all.

A friend of mine got ****ed off with me and made it so that OE now needs a
password but I don't know what it is and he won't tell me. I also don't know
how to change it (I looked in a help file on another machine but it didn't
say). Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone

Today Mother Farquhar commented courteously on the subject at
hand

Hello all.

OE now needs a password but I don't know what it is and he
won't tell me. I also don't know how to change it (I looked

Turnabout is fair play, so fix his user and Administrator
accounts so he can't even login his own computer, maybe that'll
intimidate him into either taking your IE PW or or beating the
crap outta you. Or, perhaps, login on your machine as the
Administrator and change the PW to something you like, then
login as yourself and turn it off again. Then, put a PW on your
user account and tell your screensaver to return to the Welcome
Page when it wakes up so your "friend" can't fix your wagon
again. BTW, if he's really clever, he's planted little time-
bombs all over your system, you get each one fixed with a
dinner, drinks, and a movie! grin

File a case in conciliation court (aka small claims court) for the loss
of your data and also the time for that loss and for your hours in
attempting to retrieve that data. Or consider a civil case for
destruction of your property. You can get an account with PrePaid Legal
for about $16/mo (I don't know if there is a signup fee) whereupon you
could call them to get them to have a lawyer call your "friend" to give
them notice that you will be filing charges or losses against them. The
call from a lawyer stipulating that they will be issuing legal filings
against them will probably scare them enough to get them to give you the
password.

According to 3dtracer you have a header that the program does not
understand. If you are clever enough to fiddle with headers you should be
clever enough to answer your own question. That is why I think you are
trolling or are wanting to do something some could consider illegal or
immoral or some may just consider "nosy".

You litigious American, you :-)

Reminds me of a film a few years ago starring, I think, Hulk Hogan. Hulk
punches some big biker guy. The biker's pal says "Go on, man! Kick his
ass!". Biker says "Hell no man! This is the nineties! I'm gonna sue his
ass!"

So you think it more appropriate for the victim to commit violence
against his prior friend?

And WHICH header would that be that 3dtracer did not understand? Did
YOU actually look at the headers? According to your post which simply
listed ALL the header, apparently 3dtracer isn't any good since it
listed all the headers. You said that one header wasn't recognized by
3dtracer yet you decided to hide which one it was by listing them all.
They look okay to me. Of any *values* for those headers, the value for
the From header does make the poster suspect.

The only 3dtracer program that I found was for for a utility that
"Visualizes a recorded flight in three dimensions" where it tracks using
GPS data in 3 dimensions. Aviation software is of no value for
inspecting Usenet headers. So WHERE did you get the 3dtracer program?
Who makes it?

Ah, so the real name of the utility is 3D Traceroute, not 3dtracer. I
looked at their screenshots. They have a message header analyzer but
that is for e-mail header, not Usenet headers. I looked through their
feature matrix and still saw nothing mentioned about analyzing Usenet
headers. So it appears you are using the wrong utility.
