Default Repair & Detect messed up my profile and PST file

I had a problem with FrontPage and had to do the repair & detect option in
that program. Now when I start Outlook 2003, a dialog box comes up telling
me to create a new profile.

How can I fix this problem? I am a single user with the Administrator
account (I don't use this one) and then the one that I log into when Windows
starts. The only PST file I have is Outlook.pst located underneath.

Is there a way I can use my existing PST file without have multiple
profiles?

Thanks,
Mark

Sure, just make your .pst file the default store for the new profile. The easiest way to do that may be to let Outlook create a new .pst file for the new profile. But then you can go into the account or data file management settings and change it.

Default Repair & Detect messed up my profile and PST file

Thanks, Sue. How would I go about doing that? When I click on Mail in the
control panel, it shows nothing there and comes up to the wizard.

Would I create a new profille and let Outlook create a whole new PST file
and then import all the information from my current PST file, or is there a
way to just tell it to use my old Outlook.pst file?

I don't want to have my PST file get filled up with a bunch of different
profiles...or are the profiles are used in Windows and not saved in the PST
file?

Thanks,
Mark

Default Repair & Detect messed up my profile and PST file

Hi Sue,

I forgot to ask. Now that I've repaired some Office programs, will I need
to reinstall any patches, or will the files already be patched? Thanks.

Mark

Right: Create the profile with the accounts you want to use, then modify it so that it uses your old .pst file. Do this before you start Outlook.

Mail profiles are collections of settings, not data files. Your .pst file is a data file. It holds no profile settings.
