My wife and I have 2 seperate email accounts.
Currently I use Incredimail....and we like being able to log on seperately. But, I want to switch over to Outlook. Is there a way to keep her mail seperate from mine....?? I have Outlook 2003 Inside MS Office Basic version with SP1. Thanks |

Thanks Certainly - IF you actually do have separate email addresses and not aliases of the one master account. The first and best way is to set up a separate Windows log-on for your wife. that will give her a completely separate Office setup, My documents etc. The second best, if you really don't want to do that is to set up a second Outlook profile. (Control Panel-Mail) The third option if you REALLY don't want to do either of those (and if you have aliases for email addresses this is the only option AFAIK) set up two different inboxes in Outlook and use Rules to separate out the messages. Ok, I have decided to go with the 1st option....
Is there a way to make my folders pop up when I am viewing my email account and then have a seperate list of folders when she logs in and views here mail under her logon? Maybe I did not do the logon setup properly to get a completely seperate setup?? Thanks, "Gordon" wrote: Av88or wrote: My wife and I have 2 seperate email accounts. Each of you will create a mail profile with Control Panel's Mail applet using your own Windows login. While creating the profile, you will specify a PST for mail storage. The default location for each of you will be completely different (under each of your Local Settings folders). Completely separate mail is guaranteed unless the mailbox on the mail server is actually the same for both of you and then, again, it boils down to needing rules to sort out the incoming mail. You can tell if this is true if you both use the same username/password to log into the mail server despite having different mail addresses. If you have separate credentials, then chances are your mailboxes are separate and you'll be all set. If the credentials match, however, even though your addresses look different, they're not really, since they both deliver mail to the same mailbox on the server. If that's the case, I would suggest that you configure your Outlook accounts to leave copies of messages on the server and then set up a rule for each of you that deletes all incoming mail EXCEPT FOR when the recipient address contains your name. -- Brian Tillman |
