Default Outlook will not load

Earlier today I had left my laptop on, with several applications open
(Outlook 2000, word 2000, IE 6), but with the lid closed, meaning that
the system goes to sleep. When I went to use the laptop later today it
would not restart and I had to turn the machine off. I've had the
machine for 4 months and this has not happened before. After rebooting
I went to check my emails, but Outlook 2000 would not load. I then got
the message below from XP Home "Microsoft Outlook has encountered a
problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Send
Error Report/Don't Send"

I tried loading several times to no avail. I then rebooted several
times to no avail. I then rebooted in "Safe Mode" to no avail. I then
rebooted and tried to fix the problem with my Office 2000 - SB-1 disk.
I tried the fix errors method and this did not work. I rebooted and did
a system restore, this also did not work. I have also run my virus
control; Spybot and Ad-Aware SE. None of this has helped.

I tried Microsoft's site with the error message and they say I have to
upgrade to Office 2003.

Can anyone help me?

thanks

Greg

Default Outlook will not load

You said you tried to fix the error but you did not mention the method. May
we presume you tried both Help-Detect and Repair AND the Inbox Repair Tool
(scanpst.exe)?
