Is there a regfile anywhere that I can use to set up a new user's mailbox
automatically. We run exchange 2003 and office 2003. Basically the whole desktop setup is automatic, except for this part. I have to log in as them, open outlook and tell it servername and username. Seems like such a small step, there's got to be a way to automate it with %username% and an entry for servername... |

Have you looked at the Office Resource Kit for some instructions for
installing Office via a Custom Installation or a GPO? http://office.microsoft.com/ork -- Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook] Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. All unsolicited mail sent to my personal account will be deleted without reading. After furious head scratching, Matt Conlon asked: | Is there a regfile anywhere that I can use to set up a new user's | mailbox automatically. | | We run exchange 2003 and office 2003. | | Basically the whole desktop setup is automatic, except for this part. | I have to log in as them, open outlook and tell it servername and | username. There's definitely some good stuff in there, but doens't seem to be exactly
what I need... I'd rather not create a group policy for it, because in the rare occassion, the configuration may be a little bit different. Any other thoughts? All I really need is to change the initial installation... "Milly Staples [MVP - Outlook]" wrote in message ... The ORK has the tools you need. Microsoft uses text files with a .prf extension and a highly structured format to provide information to Outlook that enables Outlook to create or modify a mail profile. You can create such .prf files with the Custom Installation Wizard or Custom Maintenance Wizard tools in the Office Resource Kit. For more details, including a variety of .prf deployment methods, read the excellent white paper "Configuring Outlook Profiles by Using a PRF File" at http://office.microsoft.com/search/r...60 I&respos=3
The page at http://www.slipstick.com/exs/olroam.htm includes information on other profile tools and resources. -- Sue Mosher, Outlook MVP Author of Configuring Microsoft Outlook 2003 http://www.turtleflock.com/olconfig/index.htm and Microsoft Outlook Programming - Jumpstart for Administrators, Power Users, and Developers http://www.outlookcode.com/jumpstart.aspx "Matt Conlon" wrote in message ...
